My work consists of experimental video art and documentary video art. I focus my work on African American related issues, color theory, nature, identity, and art.
Lens of partition
3:24
Social media is the most powerful platform to show the uncensored experiences of People of Color. In this video Lens of Partition, the lensball is used to reorient the perspective in which we view police brutality and the discrimination faced in America. Through three reenactments of police brutality, I used this strategy to highlight this situation. In the spirit of the Black Lives Matter movement, these three reenactments are meant to honor the victims Trayvon Martin, Sandra Bland, and Philando Castile.

Complexions
8:20
The concept of this short documentary is colorism, and how it affects African Americans. The documentary will put an emphasis on my overall opinion, the history of colorism, the positive and negative effects and how to overcome/prevent it. The documentary ends with the positives of having lighter or darker skin. The video utilizes people of color as they share the history and origins of Colorism through their experiences and thoughts on the topic.

Black lives matter tribute
4:35
This video shows the value of Black Lives, and the significance of the Black Lives Matter movement. This video utilizes white flowers to represent the lives of those who have died. An antagonist represents the destruction of Black Lives by destroying the flowers. The soundtrack whispers the names of the victims of police brutality that have been protested in the media by Black Lives Matter. I wanted to show both the rise of police brutality towards African Americans and to honor those who were victims.

Reflections in bloom
2:33
This two channel video installation is meant to be played side by side on two walls. This video shows the symbolism and meaning behind Flowers, represented through the power of poetry and color. This video utilizes shots of different flowers and states what each flower means. As we see each flower on each screen, the soundtrack will recite a poetic description that talks about each flower in its own way. With this video, I wanted to show the idea of symbolism in flowers and how color and poetry can represent this.

False Epithets Black Beauty
4:01
This two channel video showcases the horrific ethnic slurs and stereotypes specifically made about the black community. The discrimination towards us is countered by the positive achievements of the black community. The positive attributes reestablish the true beauty, culture, struggles, and power within the black community. I do not own the rights to the media, pictures, and music used in producing this video.

Beauty of black hair 4:29
This video will show the absolute beauty of Black Hair and will highlight the aspects of Culture and how the beauty of our Hair can be related to nature itself. By interlacing my own footage and found footage, with natural elements, the viewer will get a sense of the connection between all these themes. By adding historical aspects, a visual timeline of Black Hair and nature is composed.
False Entertainment Black Exploited
5:06
Minstrel shows, black faces, and humiliation of outside races depicting the black man will always be a part of black history. By showing a record with recorded sounds of history, the viewer would get a visual of what this history is, and the exploitation that it brings to the black community.
Black Lives Ended So Far in 2019
1:00
A visual representation of the black lives ended in 2019 from January 1st, 2019 through Mar 25, 2019. The number of names didn't reach the 1-minute mark. This signifies the mass amount of black lives ended from the result of police brutality is so large, it would take longer than 1 minute.
Experiences in a black lyric
9:18
This video analyzes three black experiences, told through a poetic description. Watch as the experimental video guides you through the hardships of living while black. Being called the "n" word, walking down the street. Being asked if the "n" word can be used in class, as a little girl. And being called the "n" word, for touching fabric as a little girl during the segregation times. The "n" word doesn't define us, but it's part of our experiences.
Extension Of My Family Tree
3:23
Extension of My Family Tree is an experimental art video, analyzing the depths of my family history. The chains represent my family's lost ties, the ties we have now, and the bonded legacy that will live on. On my grandmother's side of the family, she is the oldest of 14 children. By including the legacy of my grandmother and her siblings (my great aunts and uncles), I'm showing the generational structure that shapes and forms the beginning of our living family history. There are 14 siblings, but still, 12 standing strong. The family motto is, "Together we stand; divided we fall!", which will live on in younger generations that follow.
FAITH-BASED
10:27
This documentary analyzes the religious history, socioeconomic status, and stigma behind mental health in the African American religious community. My video lets the viewer feel a sense of the personal space that goes on within each person being interviewed. While hearing the religious aspects of it, a sense of history and understanding of mental health attitudes in the African American religious community are brought to light.
